A typical tone generator for one stop

The EOCS CFP Organ

The Coil-less Free Phase organ is pure analogue technology. The design is based upon an oscillator circuit by one of our late members, Dr David Ryder. The filter circuits, both classical and theatre) are largely the work of another previous member, Dr. Colin Pykett.

A significant number of members still build, develop and use analogue systems. If you prefer the ‘soldering iron’ to the ‘digital world’ then this could be for you. Like all analogue systems a lot of work is attached to the construction but anyone with some knowledge of electronics can both make it and fault find when necessary. A ‘get you working’ service is also available. It also has the advantage of using industry standard parts which are less likely to become obsolete. There is also the advantage that, unlike most digital systems, it is truly free-phase – a significant consideration for the classical organist.

To aid members, all the necessary parts are available as kits – tone generator boards, tone filters, PSUs, etc. The only parts not available are the necessary amplifiers as these will be a personal choice dependent upon personal circumstances.
